6 Week Spring session

Oh Canada is a proud, playful, and totally one-of-a-kind celebration of Canadian creativity! This fun-filled 6-week art session is packed with projects inspired by iconic Canadian symbols, landscapes, and culture—with a messy twist, of course.

Students will sculpt their very own Canoe Planter, complete with a charming little beaver paddling inside. They’ll create a Pouring & Resin Paddle project that’s as bold and glossy as a fresh lake on a sunny day, and paint an Acrylic Landscape inspired by Tom Thomson’s wild, expressive brushwork. We’ll crank up the energy with Giant UV Spin Artinspired by fireworks, full of movement, colour, and wow factor.

And for our grand finale? We’ll wrap things up with an early Canada Day celebration—complete with party favours like glowing bracelets and necklaces, cupcakes, and even Canada Day Slime!

This session is all about joy, pride, and creative expression. From the Group of Seven to glow-in-the-dark slime, Oh Canada is where national spirit meets studio fun. Every project is designed to inspire, celebrate, and let each young artist shine like a July 1st sparkler.

PROJECT #1

Canoe Planter w/ beaver sculpture

This whimsical project combines sculpture, painting, and a little gardening magic! Students will design and build their very own canoe-shaped planter, complete with hand-painted details and a polymer clay beaver they sculpt themselves, paddling proudly inside. Once their planter is complete, they’ll fill it with soil and plant a real seed to take home and watch grow.

It’s a fun and creative way to celebrate Canada’s love of nature, wildlife, and adventure—blending art and the outdoors in one delightful project. Every canoe is totally unique, just like the young artist who made it!

PROJECT #2

Pouring & Resin Paddle

These stunning paddles look like they’ve been dipped straight into a shimmering Canadian lake! Students will learn the art of acrylic pouring to create a layered water effect, then seal their masterpiece with a glossy resin finish. The result? A one-of-a-kind paddle that glistens like sunlight on the water.

This project blends fluid art and hands-on craft, offering a magical mix of movement, texture, and shine—perfect for celebrating Canada’s natural beauty, one ripple at a time.

PROJECT #3

Acrylic Painting inspired by tom thomson

Inspired by one of Canada’s most iconic artists, this bold landscape project channels the energy and colour of Tom Thomson’s legendary work. Students will explore his distinctive brushstrokes, rich textures, and vibrant palette to create their own expressive acrylic painting on canvas.

With bright skies, deep lakes, and fiery reds and greens, this project brings the great Canadian wilderness to life in a way that’s fun, fearless, and totally frame-worthy. A perfect introduction to landscape painting—and a tribute to a true national treasure.

Tom Thomson

Tom Thomson was a Canadian artist best known for his bold, colourful paintings of the Canadian wilderness—especially the forests, lakes, and skies of Algonquin Park. Though he only painted for a few short years before his mysterious death in 1917, his work helped inspire the creation of the Group of Seven, a famous group of Canadian landscape painters.

Thomson’s style was wild, expressive, and full of emotion. He used thick paint and strong brushstrokes to capture the beauty and power of nature. Today, he’s remembered as one of Canada’s most important and beloved artists—someone who helped shape the way we see and celebrate the Canadian landscape.

PROJECT #4

GIANT UV 'FireworkS' Spin art

Get ready to spin, splatter, and glow! In this high-energy project, students will create massive UV-reactive spin art that looks just like a burst of fireworks lighting up the night sky. Using neon paints and a giant spinning canvas, each piece explodes with colour, movement, and glowing magic under blacklight.

It’s messy, it’s thrilling, and it’s pure fun—just like a Canada Day celebration! Every spin creates a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that sparkles and shines in the dark.

STUDIO MATERIALS

Art fundamentals and practice are indispensable in fine arts, encompassing composition, design, art history, cognitive development, studio materials, and fine art techniques. These elements form the bedrock of creative expression, inspire artists, nurture critical thinking skills, and hone artistic craftsmanship, culminating in impactful artwork. Our Fall Session embraces these essential fundamentals as we embark on our artistic endeavors. Studying the masters is pivotal in artistic growth. Just as aspiring musicians study Mozart, painters refine their skills by studying visual arts masters. This exploration not only offers technical guidance but also ignites creativity, fostering an appreciation for artistic heritage and the evolution of our medium. By immersing ourselves in their works, we absorb their wisdom, artistic choices, and innovative approaches, laying the groundwork for our artistic journeys. At our studio, we believe each student is a MASTER IN THE MAKING, with Art Fundamentals and Practice marking the beginning of their creative odyssey.
