Spring Session 2023

Get ready for an exciting spring art session filled with vibrant colours, mixed media, and loads of fun!

We’re incorporating elements of art history and techniques into our projects to provide an educational and enjoyable experience for children. Art plays a crucial role in a child’s education, and we take this responsibility seriously.

This term, we’re drawing inspiration from gardens and the beauty of nature, hence the theme “Bloom.”

Our projects this term are truly inspiring!

We’re taking inspiration from Monet’s famous garden, with its water lilies, bridges, and masses of flowers. We’re creating a unique multi-media diorama using resin, wood, paper, and polymer clay to bring this picturesque landscape to life.

We’re also creating a large painting inspired by Klimt, a world-famous artist known for his use of bold colors and patterns.

But that’s not all! We’re adding some fun and exciting twists to our projects. We’re introducing mud-slime, a brown, sparkly, and sweet-smelling slime filled with polymer bugs, presented in a plastic flower pot.

We’re even introducing a brand new room – the Graffiti Lab! This room has been under construction for the past few weeks, and we’re excited to include a project in it for the first time this spring.

In summary, we’re going big, bright, and all-out this spring to ensure that this is the most fun and engaging art session ever. We can’t wait to see our students leave the studio with paint under their finger-nails and a huge smile on their face!

Klimt Inspired Acrylic Painting

Get ready to explore the beautiful world of Gustav Klimt with our new painting project inspired by his famous Bauerngarten painting! We will be using acrylic paint and canvas board to create our masterpiece.

In recreating Klimt’s painting, we’ll be learning and practicing various techniques such as layering, brush strokes, and color mixing. The painting features a beautiful garden filled with bright colors and intricate patterns, and we’ll be incorporating these elements into our re-creation.

Three Different Levels

To make the project more accessible and engaging, we’re offering three different levels of difficulty suitable for different age ranges. This way, everyone can have fun and learn something new, no matter their skill level.

We believe that art education is important for a child’s development, and this project is a great opportunity to introduce them to the world of art history while developing their creativity and skills. So let’s get started and create our own beautiful garden masterpiece inspired by Klimt’s work!

Bauerngarten, 1907

A painting created by Gustav Klimt, one of the most prominent figures of the Viennese Secession movement in the early 20th century. The painting depicts a lush garden filled with colorful flowers, fruit trees, and bushes. Klimt used a vibrant color palette and his signature decorative style to create a harmonious and idyllic representation of nature.

The importance of “Bauerngarten, 1907” lies in its contribution to the development of modern art. Klimt’s innovative approach to color, composition, and form helped to pave the way for the emergence of abstract art and Expressionism in the following decades.

An Austrian symbolist painter and a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement. He is known for his decorative and erotic paintings, which often feature intricate patterns and gold leaf. Klimt’s work was controversial during his time, but his legacy has endured, and he is now considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century.

Clay Wheel

Learning how to use a clay wheel is an exciting and educational experience that offers numerous benefits for both children and adults. Not only is it a fun and creative way to express yourself, but it also allows you to develop a range of valuable skills and techniques.

One of the key benefits of working with a clay wheel is the tactile experience of working with the clay itself. The feeling of the wet, pliable clay in your hands is both therapeutic and satisfying, allowing you to express your creativity in a tactile way. By manipulating the clay on the wheel, you can create a wide range of forms and shapes, from bowls and vases to sculptures and figurines.

In addition to the sensory benefits, learning how to use a clay wheel also teaches important technical skills. This includes understanding how to prepare the clay for use on the wheel, centering the clay on the wheel, shaping and trimming the clay, and firing and glazing the finished pieces.

Working with a clay wheel also develops important hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and spatial awareness. It requires patience, precision, and a willingness to experiment and learn from your mistakes.

Overall, learning how to use a clay wheel is a rewarding and enriching experience that offers both fun and educational value. It’s a great way to explore your creativity, learn new skills, and express yourself through the medium of clay.

Bird Bath Project

Get ready for a new exciting project that will unleash your child’s creativity! Our latest project involves using a clay wheel to create a unique bird bath. But don’t worry, this bird bath won’t be for real birds, it’s just a fun and creative project for your child.

The first step will be building the bird bath using the clay wheel, which is always an exciting and engaging process. Next, your child can let their imagination run wild and paint the bird bath with their favorite colors and designs. To add even more fun, your child will also get to create a little bird out of clay to sit on the edge of the bird bath.

Prepare to see your child’s artistic skills in action as they create a unique bird bath to be proud of!
