7 Week Spring session
Get ready for our most creative and unique class yet! Urban Legends is a bold, high-energy art experience inspired by street art, graffiti, and modern masters like Banksy, Basquiat, and Jeff Koons. Students will explore graffiti-style typography, expressive doodles, and wearable art with a custom-painted hoodie. They’ll sculpt their own Balloon Dog, experiment with multi-layered canvas painting, and even learn the art of image transfer.
This class isn’t just about making art—it’s about finding your own voice and expressing yourself in ways that are bold, fearless, and deeply personal. Street art has always been about speaking up, making a statement, and breaking boundaries, and these projects give students the tools to do just that. They’ll build confidence in their artistic choices, develop their unique style, and learn that art doesn’t have to stay on a canvas—it can be worn, displayed, and lived!Every project is one-of-a-kind, just like the artists creating them.
PROJECT #1
Letters aren’t just for reading—they’re for expressing! In our Urban Legends class, you’ll explore bold, dynamic typography inspired by graffiti art. Learning to write in creative new ways helps develop artistic confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for design. From wild styles to 3D illusions, you’ll transform words into eye-catching artwork, making each letter a masterpiece. Whether tagging your name in bold strokes or crafting an intricate wordscape, this project is all about self-expression and style—because sometimes, the way you write is just as important as what you say!

Doodling is more than just scribbling—it’s a fun and creative way to bring ideas to life! In our Urban Legends class, you’ll explore how simple lines and shapes can tell a story, create movement, and spark imagination. Inspired by graffiti and street art, this project will push you to develop your own unique doodle style, layering symbols, patterns, and characters to make a vibrant, one-of-a-kind composition. Whether playful, abstract, or bold, your doodles will capture energy and personality in a way words alone can’t. Get ready to let your creativity take shape and come to life!

Inspired by the iconic work of Jeff Koons, this project brings sculpture to life with a playful twist! Koons is known for transforming everyday objects into oversized, reflective masterpieces, challenging the idea of what art can be. His famous Balloon Dog sculptures capture the fun and nostalgia of childhood while showcasing expert craftsmanship and bold creativity. In our Urban Legends class, you’ll create your own balloon dog sculpture, experimenting with form, color, and shine. This project is all about pushing artistic boundaries—just like Koons—while making something both whimsical and eye-catching!

inspired by banksy
Inspired by the mysterious and rebellious artist Banksy, this project brings graffiti-style art to fashion! Banksy is known for his bold, thought-provoking street art, often using stencils to create powerful and unexpected imagery. In our Urban Legends class, students will design their own one-of-a-kind hoodie using indoor-safe spray paint to build a vibrant base layer, followed by playful splatter techniques for added texture and energy. Using fabric paint markers, they’ll add their own artistic details, making each hoodie truly unique. To top it off, each student will receive a custom-printed stencil featuring a word of their choice to adorn the chest, just like a street artist tagging their masterpiece. This project is all about self-expression, creativity, and making art you can wear!
PROJECT #5
inspired by jean michel basquiat
Inspired by the expressive and raw energy of Jean-Michel Basquiat, this project is all about layering color, movement, and meaning. Basquiat’s work combined graffiti, abstract textures, and bold imagery to create art that was both chaotic and deeply personal. In our Urban Legends class, students will build a dynamic multi-layered canvas, starting with an abstract background full of drips, splatters, and doodles to capture a sense of movement and spontaneity. The final touch? A giant printed image transfer, chosen by each student to make their piece truly unique. Along the way, they’ll learn about image transfer techniques and how to blend different styles into one cohesive masterpiece. This project is all about embracing imperfections, layering ideas, and making a statement through art!
STUDIO MATERIALS
Art fundamentals and practice are indispensable in fine arts, encompassing composition, design, art history, cognitive development, studio materials, and fine art techniques. These elements form the bedrock of creative expression, inspire artists, nurture critical thinking skills, and hone artistic craftsmanship, culminating in impactful artwork. Our Fall Session embraces these essential fundamentals as we embark on our artistic endeavors. Studying the masters is pivotal in artistic growth. Just as aspiring musicians study Mozart, painters refine their skills by studying visual arts masters. This exploration not only offers technical guidance but also ignites creativity, fostering an appreciation for artistic heritage and the evolution of our medium. By immersing ourselves in their works, we absorb their wisdom, artistic choices, and innovative approaches, laying the groundwork for our artistic journeys. At our studio, we believe each student is a MASTER IN THE MAKING, with Art Fundamentals and Practice marking the beginning of their creative odyssey.

As a special bonus, this session includes an exciting trip to our UV Slime Lab, where students will create glow-in-the-dark slime that’s as fun to play with as it is to look at! Then, they’ll visit our brand-new Slime Candy Shop, where they’ll mix, stretch, and shape slime that looks just like their favorite sweets—topping it off with fun, sprinkle-like add-ins for the perfect finishing touch. It’s the ultimate mix of art, creativity, and hands-on fun, making this class a truly unforgettable experience!
